Lore

Many generations ago, the dwarven mines within the Lone-lands had served as an important source of gold, gems, and important minerals for Thogh Maldur. That changed when Okmus tricked a dwarven miner into allowing his followers access to the mine in exchange for false promises of riches. Okmus betrayed the dwarf, and ordered his followers in the Dark Alliance to secure control of the mine, who then bloodily expelled the dwarves and took the mine for themselves. Now, the mines are just a bad memory for the dwarven people. Despite the potential riches that still await in its deepest veins, only a foolish dwarf would venture into it as it stands. Many of its passages are haunted by ghosts or full of poisonous reptiles, while the servants of Okmus still reign in the main tunnel. Though perhaps not for long, as there are rumors that even more dreadful beings have begun to emerge from the depths of the mine.
